Karen has an extensive background in library systems and services in medical, community college, and in special library settings. In her current position at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, Karen is part of the Enterprise Information Services Section which is responsible for supporting knowledge management at APL. Karen supports the implementation of an enterprise wide Content Management System from the perspective of content input and organization, and developing and presenting training programs for the Lab’s users. Karen was a member of the selection and implementation teams for the Enterprise Search product Velocity by Vivisimo. Karen will discuss the implementation of this product. Prior to working at APL, Karen held various positions at Howard Community College including Assistant Director with responsibilities for the management and supervision of all library departments including reference, circulation, technical services and instructional programs. She was also responsible for managing the development and licensing of digital resources. Karen also managed all aspects of the Sirsi automated library system.
