Michael Mills is a management consultant with the firm Kraft & Kennedy, Inc. He was for 20 years the chief knowledge officer and co-head of technology at Davis Polk & Wardwell, leading that firm's work in information architecture, enterprise search, wikis, intranet, extranet and portal services, and other practice support and client-facing technologies. In addition to his work within Davis Polk, he consulted regularly with clients on law department technology.
Mills received a B.A. from Reed College, where he learned to program an early IBM minicomputer in machine language and Fortran. He attended the University of Chicago Law School, then served as law clerk to at United States District Judge in Oregon.
After practicing with Davis Polk for several years, he became a partner in the firm of Mayer Brown, specializing in bankruptcy, and was founding chairman of the firm's Technology Committee and operations partner for the New York office. He is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and is vice chairman of Pro Bono Net.
